It has been 48 years since the fall of Saigon and the Republic of Viet Nam on April 30, 1975. Annually, the Vietnamese community in Santa Clara County, and throughout the United States, come together to commemorate the soldiers of the Republic of Viet Nam, the United States, and the Allies who sacrificed their lives fighting for freedom and to remember the people of Viet Nam who perished at sea in their journey to freedom. While millions of people were able to seek refuge and resettle all around the world, including over 140 thousand Vietnamese Americans here in Santa Clara County, hundreds of thousands suffered as political prisoners in re-education camps and countless others lost loved ones.
The Vietnamese American Service Center is pleased to announce and cordially invite all members of the community to the Black April Commemoration and Service on Friday, April 28, 2023, to provide a safe space for the community to share their experience with the next generations and to preserve the heritage, history, and culture of Viet Nam. Together, we will continue to serve and build toward a bright and successful future for all Vietnamese Americans in Santa Clara County.
